Some More Melodic Sequences To Have Fun With

Ascending 2-note patterns
- Up in 3rds: 13 24 35 46 57 61 72 13
- Up in 4ths: 14 25 36 47 51 62 73 14
- Up in 5ths: 15 26 37 41 52 63 74 15
- Up in 6ths: 16 27 31 42 53 64 75 16
- Up in 7ths: 17 21 32 43 54 65 76 17
On a side note: Locrian and Ionian are names of fingerings of the major scale.

Descending 2-note patterns
- Down in 3rds: 31 27 16 75 64 53 42 31
- Down in 4ths: 41 37 26 15 74 63 52 41
- Down in 5ths: 51 47 36 25 14 73 62 51
- Down in 6ths: 61 57 46 35 24 13 72 61
- Down in 7ths: 71 67 56 45 34 23 12 71
Also practice descending sequences with 5ths, 6ths, and 7ths.
You basically play the ascending sequences backward for descending. If that doesn’t entirely make sense: compare the ascending 3rds to the descending 3rds. You get descending when you read ascending from right to left.
