Using 6ths to Beef Up Your Rhythm Playing.
Today I’ll show you how to beef up your rhythm playing with 6 intervals.
If you’re not sure what 6ths are or uncertain how to play them: you would benefit from studying this blog first: 6th Intervals.
I’m very excited about writing today’s blog because I know how much this lesson will contribute to your rhythm guitar skills.
Adding 6ths to your rhythm playing is one surefire way to come up with impressive-sounding rhythm parts.
The cool-sounding rhythm parts you’ll come up with will also inspire songs.
This is not just a performer’s tool: it’s also a songwriting tool.
A great example of how combining rhythm playing with 6th lines triggers songwriting ideas, is John Mayer’s “Belief”
Here’s the tablature for the Belief intro and verse: belief-john-mayer
Another great example: Jimi Hendrix’s “Room Full Of Mirrors”, which you can see and hear me perform here.
Notice the intro and verse rhythm part, consisting of 6th intervals only.
I throw in 6th lines in my rhythm playing ALL the time when I jam with other people.
It’s definitely a huge part of my rhythm style.
The following video will give you rhythm ideas.
So now we got all the serious stuff out of the way… now something completely different…
I’m definitely guilty of this haha 🙂

These free lessons are cool, but you will never experience the progress, joy, and results that my students experience in lessons when you’re learning by yourself from blogs and videos.
That is why people take lessons: way better results and progress, much more complete information, exposed to way more creative ideas than you can get from a blog or YouTube video.
There is only so much that self-study can accomplish.
If you want to see amazing results and progress in your guitar playing, buy your first lesson here and get started ASAP.
You’ll impress your friends and loved ones in no time with your guitar playing!
